Well I finally got around to it and took a picture of one of the sakura trees at my school. I wish I could've taken a better photo...but eh.. XD Enjoy!

*Shakes head* Nope its a sakura tree all right. i had so many petals from that thing fall on my head. I was on the shuttle while taking that picture so you can't see the details.

Dude... it doesn't have any of the right details to be a cherry tree. One, there are not enough flowers--cherry trees blossom in plumes, like so. Secondly, sakura trees do not have leaves at the same time they have flowers.
Third, the bark of sakura trees is dark like this, not light like in your picture.

Just 'cause a tree has pink flowers and sheds petals doesn't mean it's a sakura tree.

That is a good argument, okay...maybe it wasn't that tree but I'll take a picture of another tree near that one. And the ground since alot of the flowers are in bloom and yeah..they fall to the ground fast.
